The Subway Veggie Breakwich costs £4.99 and comes to 442 kcal, which makes it the cheapest hot item on the entire UK menu. Under a fiver for a hot filled roll is not a common thing on a British high street in the morning.
It is the meat free entry to the breakfast range, built on egg and cheese in the same bread the lunch menu uses, with the salad rail available as usual. The breakfast range is only four items deep, so the choices here are fewer than anywhere else on the board.
The taste is mild and savoury, egg-forward with the cheese rounding it, and it is the sort of thing that tastes considerably better at eight in the morning than the description suggests. Toasted, which is free, the bread firms up and the cheese actually melts, and it is worth taking.
It suits an early start and a tight budget, which is most of the reason breakfast at Subway exists. The catch is timing rather than the sandwich: breakfast stops when the counter switches to the all day range in late morning, and there is no national cut-off to rely on.
Within the breakfast range it is the cheapest and lightest, with the Big Breakwich at the other end carrying considerably more of everything. Ordered as part of the Breakfast Meal Deal it becomes the cheapest full meal Subway UK sells.
On value it is genuinely hard to beat: the cheapest hot food on the menu, before you even get to the meal deal price. If Subway breakfast is a habit rather than an occasional thing, this is the item that makes the habit affordable.

It is the meat free option in the breakfast range. Cheese means it is vegetarian rather than vegan, and everything is prepared on shared surfaces.
Egg and wheat certainly, milk from the cheese. Check the Subway allergen guide for your bread and sauce choices.
